How Thomas Jefferson Responded to Islam in 1801

The radical Islamic jihadists that make up the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria are engaged in a war to reestablish the former Islamic Caliphate and spread their version of fundamentalist Islam around the world.

This is really nothing new, as radical Islamists have been waging jihad against “infidel” unbelievers since their inception in 800 AD.

Here is a short history lesson about how Thomas Jefferson responded to radical Islamic kidnappings, beheadings, and extortion, long before oil or American imperialism were concerns for our fledgling country that was just trying to survive.

The threat that Jefferson was compelled to face off against originated from what was called the Berber states, or Barbary Coast, a collection of semi-autonomous Islamic states in North Africa that were part of the greater Ottoman Empire, including Algiers, Morocco, Tripoli, and Tunis.

The Barbary states had a habit of sending out pirate ships to attack and capture merchant ships passing through the Mediterranean Sea. They would kidnap the crews of the ship and either hold them for high ransoms from their home countries, or force them to convert to Islam, or simply kill them.

In 1786, while serving as an Ambassador for the new United States, Jefferson asked Tripoli’s Ambassador to Great Britain what right the Barbary states had that allowed them to kidnap and slaughter the innocent crews of passing merchant ships.

According to Jefferson, Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja replied that Islam “was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Qur’an, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman [Muslim] who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

In essence, the Ambassador from Tripoli stated that their religion, Islam, gave them the right to kidnap and murder and enslave those who held different beliefs. Jefferson took this information to heart and remembered it well. He also spent time studying the Koran himself, to gain a better understanding of the enemy his young nation was facing.

In 1801, when Jefferson was president, the Pasha of Tripoli suddenly demanded a massive payment from the United States, along with an increased annual tribute, in order to secure safe passage for American ships through the Mediterranean.

Jefferson refused the demands of the Pasha, and instead of sending more money and acquiescing to the angry and demanding Muslims, he sent naval warships bearing the newly created U.S. Marine Corps.

This was the first war by the American nation on foreign soil, and is where the line “to the shores of Tripoli” in the Marine Corps hymn comes from. It is also believed that the term “Leathernecks,” which refers to Marines, comes from the thick leather neck coverings that the Marines wore to protect themselves from being beheaded by the giant swords wielded by the Barbary pirates.

Thomas Jefferson showed how a U.S. president should respond to threats from radical Islamists, and that is by confronting and defeating them.

Surveillance cameras in parks.

I am sure Counciller Sam Merulla means well, but really do we need to spend money on more cameras to spy on citizens in parks. The reason send to be to catch illegal garbage dumpers. It seens to me this has been an ongoing problem forever. Instead of spending a fortune of our taxpayer dollars on more cameras and enforcement why does the city have FREE garbage dumping at the city dump. People dump because they do not want too pay. I was just at the dump this morning discarding a truckload of junk and it cost me $8.50 a reasonable sum but for some they can’t afford or don’t want to pay. So, I don’t understand the ratioale behind the cameras and extra enforcement, just make the dump free and use all that money on stupid cameras and equally useless enforcement to staff it better even thiugh what they have now seems sufficient. Preventative measures are ysually cheaper than enforcement unless of course the city is just trying to make more on fines and really has no wish to prevent. I’m sure the councillors can come yup with idiotic reasons not to do this so how about a referendum on this subject and screw more surveillance in our lives. Something took think about.

…AND THEN YOU WONDER WHY CITIZENS DON’T TRUST POLICE ANYMORE

This points directly to the problem with law enforcement. This woman was assaulted and arrested for doing the right thing! And they wonder why people don’t trust the police? Yep prople I think I will call a crackhead instead!

Cop Stops Fellow Cop From Choking a Handcuffed Man, She Was Then Beaten and Fired

Buffalo , NY– While killer cops get sent on paid vacations, it’s hard to imagine what one has to do to actually be fired. It turns out, the answer is be a good cop. Keep reading, there’s more outrage below!

More from the religion of peace

What is it going to take the world to see the truth of Islam?
Look no one cares if you want to be religious; I certainly don’t but if you say you are practicing a religion of peace, but you don’t then change the damn thing. Yes, I know, you say don’t judge the entire religion by a few…a few? A few is not entire populations acting like killers. You know Catholics were being tarred by a few bad priests… a few; so how do you not take from millions of Islamist terrorists the idea that Islam is a religion of peace. It is laughable.

‘Horrors of sexual violence’: Yazidi women forced into slavery, commit suicide, Amnesty says

Hundreds, possibly thousands, of Yazidi women and girls from the age of 12 have been affected by violence from Islamic State militants, being sold as sex slaves or given as gifts, says Amnesty International. This drives some of the victims to suicide.

“Hundreds of Yazidi women and girls have had their lives shattered by the horrors of sexual violence and sexual slavery in IS [Islamic State] captivity,” Keep reading, there’s more outrage below!

How can the world trust Islam

Seeing how Islamists kill each other around the world sure makes it hard for clear thinking people to believe they are a religion of peace.
What happened in Pakistan with the Taliban killing over 140 innocent Muslim children, definitely does not help. How can anyone believe Islam is a religion of peace when this happens. How can it be a religion of peace when in Africa these Islamic terrorists kill followers of this religion of peace as well as Christians by the thousands. The moderates can chant all they want about it being a religion of peace but but the proof is in the pudding. They have to turn their backs on this terrorists and they have to adjust their religion to bring it into the modern world. A religion rooted sole in the past is not a good idea. Christians had to learn this lesson as well. They still stick to certain principles but they adjusted as times went on trying their best to avoid the pitfalls of the past. Islam has to do the same thing Keep reading, there’s more atrocities to read below!

A big conspiracy?

theinterviewposterSo was all the hoopla about THE INTERVIEW a fake? A scam?
No one knows for sure at least for now, but it sure created a lot of buzz. It’s quite possible that North Korean computer hackers were responsible. The portly North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un would have it done just because it offended him. The reac tion may not have been what he expected. The threats were probably hyperbole but theatres buckled under causing Sony to pull the film. Now as we have seen some 300 theatres did show the film so obviously Sony decided not to go hard case on the edict.

Cinemas showed poor judgement in pulling the film because this set a bad precedent. It means that they will cave in in the future if others threaten them. This of course will cause a change in the type of films made but worst of all it shows terrorists that terror will work thus causing more terror to rear it’s ugly head more often. This is bad, bad…bad.

Today’s Political Comment

Courtesy of Mark Evanier’s blog. Mark said everything that needed to be said in this fine entry. Something that needs to be spread around.

Published Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 12:36 AM.

Rudy Giuliani and other right-wing figures are blaming the recent murder of two New York policemen in part on Barack Obama’s anti-cop rhetoric. Giuliani said, “We’ve had four months of propaganda, starting with the president, that everybody should hate the police.” Trouble is, nobody can cite anything the president has said that fits that description.

The Washington Post fact-checker gave Giuliani’s claims four Pinocchios, their highest lie rating. Politifact gave them a “Pants on Fire,” their highest lie rating.

So what you have here is the old, sleazy trick. Something happens in the news that you think will upset people or can be used to upset them…and you run out and blame it on your political opponents in order to score points against them. There seems to be no tragedy that some people won’t use for this purpose. Giuliani, of course, has exploited 9/11 so much that it’s hard to remember that was a date on which he actually impressed people with his leadership.

We have something like 780,000 police officers in this country. My sense is that well over 95% of them are good men and women Keep reading, there’s more info!

Pray for them.

At this time of year when Christmas comes around I would like everyone to try and remember and pray for all the displaced Christians who are struggling to survive in Islamic countries. Pray for all the thousands that have been killed. Pray for all those that have been displaced from their homes. Pray for all those who are still trying to survive in the Middle East and in Africa. Pray that God will help them and punish those Islamic terrorists that have taken the lives of so many Christians in His name.

When the United States invaded Iraq after 2001 there were 60,000 Christians in Mosul. By last year it was down to 30,000. Today there are none. In the past decade there were 12 million Christians in the Arab world but in this past  has increased each year.decade a quarter of them have emigrated and the flow out is increasing each year.

I would really like to say that we should also forgive these killers but I can not and for that i feel sad, especially at this time of year. It’s hard to say MERRY CHRISTMAS when this is going on. Maybe this will end soon.

Hamas is not the victim.

I wonder on which planet Hamas lovers are from because they certainly can’t be from this planet Earth. Look no one wants to see people being killed especially children that are innocent and thrown into the middle of a conflict that they have little chance of escaping and seems to be destined to go on forever, The thing is that this conflict is being extended because of Hamas and not the Israelis even though they have made their mistakes. I used to be upset when I used to see some of the crap they used to stop Palestinians but when Hamas got involved my mind changed rather rapidly.
Simply, when someone shoots at you and try to kill you, you defend yourselves and because of Hamas the Israelis have very little choice.

Hamas belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood and they want territorial gains. Past Brotherhood leader Mustafa Mashhur in his book JIHAD IS THE WAY describes the role of violent jihad in establishing a worldwide Islamic State. Hamas in it’s own charter calls for the destruction and takeover of Israel. In 2005 Israel gave Gaza to the Palestinian Arabs to create a state and what did they do instead? Hamas turned the state into a hellhole while concentrating on the destruction of Israel.

The world, instead of criticizing Israel, should go after Hamas who is systematically causing the death of it’s own citizens. Every time there is a ceasefire, Hamas breaks it. If they gave a damn for their own people they would spend their money helping their citizens, paying salaries and building homes rather than diverting monies to the purchase of weapons and building costly tunnels with the sole purpose of killing Israelis. Such a lofty goal isn’t it?

So every time I see groups at MacMaster University or other places going on about how the Israelis are killing Palestinians, I get sick. Hamas is killing Palestinians and if they admitted that then I would be behind them. Daniel Moynihan said at one time…”Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts”. So, let’s all talk about the facts and get them in order before we stick our noses into something that is not our affair.

Thought to ponder

Sexually progressive cultures gave us literature, philosophy, civilization and the rest, while sexually restrictive cultures gave us the Dark Ages and the Holocaust.

Someone I know put this on his Facebook page and I thought…damn that is spot on.

TORTURE A NECESSARY EVIL

Saying that torture is a necessity is abhorrent to me and all civilized people. Unfortunately because the world is populated by millions upon millions of uncivilized people then torture does indeed become a necessity. I don ‘t understand all the news flying around about the CIA use of torture. This has been going on for centuries and will continue into the future. Torture, as much as we may not like it, is oft-times the only solution to a life threatening situation. Many times it will end up that innocents will be caught in the web but unfortunately when the lives of countless people are at stake then some casualties will be expected.
