Kenneth Mars

February 25, 2010

One of the great character actors, Kenneth Mars (April 4, 1935 – February 12, 2011), passed away on February 12, 2011 at the age of 75. Known for working in films, on television, and as a voice actor, he is probably best remembered for his roles in two Mel Brooks films as the insane Nazi playwright Franz Liebkind in The Producers and Inspector Hans Wilhelm Fredrich Kemp in Young Frankenstein.

His film work also include roles in What’s Up, Doc?, Woody Allen’s Radio Days and Shadows and Fog. In addition to 27 episodes of Malcom In The Middle and numerous other live action TV appearances, his credits included voice work stints on cartoons such as Little Mermaid, Darkwing Duck, and TaleSpin, among many others.
